Bethel Network Partners With Pwani Oil in Fight Against COVID-19

As the whole country rallies to fight against the unprecedented effects of COVID-19, Bethel Network has also been contributing towards the cause. Corporately and through partners, Bethel Network has managed to pool resources and products to be distributed to the most vulnerable communities.

Proper handwashing with soap and clean water has been identified by The World Health Organization and Kenya’s Ministry of Health as one of the most important prevention factors. Through the generous support of Pwani Oil Limited, Bethel Network recently distributed soap to reach the most in need in Kiambu and Murang’a Counties. In Kiambu county,12 cartons of soap were received by Mary Kirobi, Kiambu County Director of Gender, Culture & Social services at her office.

“We are grateful to see that you have heeded the call by both National and County Governments to contribute in this fight,” said Ms. Kirobi during the brief ceremony. “Any assistance will go a long way towards strengthening our communities to fight this disease. We were already at an advanced stage of mapping the individuals who were most in need at the ward level and we intend to deliver these and other items to them door to door.”

Mary Ndung’u, Bethel Network Director was grateful to the Kiambu County Government for its continued support. “We have worked in Kiambu county for a long time and are connected to the communities in different parts of the county. We are going to assist in any way we can to ensure that we get as much resources as we can to the members who need them most during this difficult time.”

For Murang’a county, Bethel Network delivered 15 cartons of soap in two batches which were received by Hon. Elizabeth Mwangi, Member of County Assembly and Hon. Edward Muiruri, County Executive Committee member for youth, sports, gender, culture, social services, co-operatives & special programs.

“We are looking forward to distribute these products to particularly the elderly members of our Murang’a community who are one of the most vulnerable groups as we fight against Coronavirus,” said Hon. Mwangi and Hon. Muiruri. “We have many in our community who cannot afford these basic but critical products and all of the products we have received, rest assured, are going to reach the people who need them most. We are pleased that organizations such as Bethel and Pwani Oil are teaming up with our county government because no single entity can succeed alone. It will take all of us working as a team to protect our communities and win this fight.”

Mary Ndung’u, Bethel Network Director echoed the same sentiments and added that as an organization, teamwork was part of Bethel’s values and our hearts are always with the communities we work in. “We will continue to mobilize resources and products from partners such as Pwani Oil and work with National, County governments and other organizations to ensure the communities are resilient enough to overcome this global pandemic.”
