Empowering Communities Through Water Project Training: Team Duara Mashinani

On the 11th and 12th of July, Bethel Network proudly launched its new Circuit Rider program, Team Duara Mashinani, with a comprehensive training session held in Sipili, Laikipia County. This initiative marks a significant step forward in our mission to ensure sustainable water management and community health in rural areas.

Training Overview

The training was designed to equip participants with essential skills and knowledge in the operation and maintenance of water projects. The program covered a range of critical topics, including:

  1. Operation and Maintenance (O & M) of Water Projects:
    • Maintenance Schedules: Participants learned how to create and adhere to maintenance schedules to ensure the longevity and efficiency of water systems.
    • O & M Planning: Emphasis was placed on the importance of strategic planning in the maintenance of water projects.
    • Stockpiling of Critical Fittings: The session highlighted the necessity of keeping essential fittings in stock to avoid disruptions.
    • Introduction to Water Supply Materials and Fittings: Attendees were introduced to various materials and fittings used in water supply systems.
    • O & M Tools and Equipment: Practical knowledge of the tools and equipment required for maintenance was shared.
    • Troubleshooting in Water Supply Projects and Solutions: Participants learned how to identify and solve common issues in water projects.
    • Practicals (Plenary): Hands-on sessions allowed participants to apply their learning in real-time scenarios.
  2. Health and Hygiene:
    • Basic Principles in Water Supply Projects: The training underscored the importance of health and hygiene in the context of water supply, promoting safe practices to prevent waterborne diseases.
  3. Community Involvement/Engagement in Project Sustainability:
